Dogs occasionally, but more commonly cats, can suffer from hypertension (high blood pressure), just like their owners can. This can be indicative of a number of diseases (eg thyroid, heart or kidney disease) and can cause significant damage to internal organs such as the eyes and the heart if left untreated.
We use Doppler blood pressure measurement, which is utterly painless, to evaluate blood pressure in our patients.
